First off, what is a Facebook Pixel?\u00a0The\u00a0Facebook pixel<\/strong>\u00a0is an analytics tool that allows you to measure the effectiveness of your advertising by understanding the actions people take on your website. You can also use\u00a0pixel<\/strong>\u00a0data to: Make sure your ads are being shown to the right people and build data informed audiences for marketing or remarketing to your customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Success on Facebook or Instagram for e-commerce businesses, contrary to popular belief, does not happen overnight. Everything is built around an ability to generate and pivot from data. Think of it as training a robot that will go out and build relationships with your ideal customers until they like your brand so much that they buy your products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The great thing about building customer acquisition systems through things like Facebook or Instagram Ads is that once you achieve the results you are after on a small scale, you can then carefully scale this up and take your business to new levels and start crushing new revenue goals you have only dreamed of. But again, this is only possible through the correct collection and use of data<\/strong> and the first step is very simple, just place that dang pixel!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s how you can add your Facebook Pixel to Shopify in 3 easy steps<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Step 1:<\/strong> Find your Facebook Pixel ID<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
First, go to your Facebook Business Manager<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Click on the menu in the top left hand corner, then click on \u201cAll Tools\u201d in the bottom right of this menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From here, simply go to \u201cPixels\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Click on it, and you\u2019ll get access to your Facebook Pixel ID!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you see the screen below instead of this page\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2026it means that you have created Facebook pixel already, but never got around to setting it up properly on your online store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If this is the case, all you need to do is finish installing your pixel code on your website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
You can either:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Use an Integration or Tag Manager, <\/li>
Manually install the code by yourself<\/li>
Or get a developer to do it for you<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
The easiest route, by far, is to use the Tag Manager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Go ahead and click on that option\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Next, click on \u201cShopify\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The next window gives you your Facebook Pixel ID\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Copy the Pixel ID to your clipboard and proceed!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Step 2<\/strong>: Enter your Pixel ID into the Preferences of your Shopify store<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Go to the \u201cPreferences\u201d section of your Shopify store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Scroll down until you soo \u201cFacebook Pixel ID\u201d, this is where you can paste your pixel ID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And finally\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Step 3:<\/strong> Check your Pixel status on Facebook<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
Select \u201cPixels\u201d from the drop-down menu, and take a look!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Voila! you are all good to go!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
If your pixel status states \u201cNo Activity Yet\u201d instead of \u201cActive\u201d, this means your pixel isn\u2019t working (yet). It might take up to 20 minutes for changes to be reflected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It still amazes me how many legit Shopify stores, who are doing some decent volume through their sites, still have not set up their Facebook Pixel. Even if you have no intentions of running Facebook Ads or Instagram Ads in the near future, it would still greatly greatly benefit you to place these tracking codes and start building up a stock pile of very useful data.
